#Dblog week - Day 4 - Rinse and Repeat

"Yesterday we opened up about how diabetes can bring us down. Today let’s share what gets us through a hard day.  Or more specifically, a hard diabetes day.  Is there something positive you tell yourself?  Are there mantras that you fall back on to get you through?  Is there something specific you do when your mood needs a boost?  Maybe we've done that and we can help others do it too? (Thanks to Meri of Our Diabetic Life for suggesting this topic.)"

When we have a bad D day in our house, we try to find the silver lining to the situation. It's not always easy, but it helps us find perspective.

These are just a few examples of how we try and do that...

Bad low - thankful we have access to glucose tabs, juice, a plethora of candy, glucagon and a pump for temp basals.

High bg - thankful for fresh insulin, new sites, new cartridges, clean syringes and a pump for temp basals.

J hates to prebolus- at least we have food to eat & J is not limited as people with diabetes were not so long ago.

J is tired of checking his sugar - we have access to meters and strips, that so many around the world do not, same with insulin.

Somedays it's harder than others to see the upside but try our hardest and usually after enough "looking", we find some really beautiful blessings hidden in the ugly of diabetes.

I guess this would be our mantra:

Finding things to be grateful for during our most challenging moments can be tough and requires a strong heart. It is a great habit to form. Appreciating what you have makes everything feel better. Thank you for sharing and wonderful mantra! Happy D-Blog Week!!
